Wildheart Animal Sanctuary volunteer, Sarah Whitter, has undertaken her greatest challenge so far for the Sanctuary, this time on more of a personal level – by shaving off all of her hair to raise funds for rescued tigers Softi and Toph.

After hearing about their horrendous plight of being found in the back of a horsebox, along with eight other Tigers, one of which sadly died, Sarah decided she wanted to find an equally shocking way to encourage people to support her fundraising for these wonderful animals.

Sarah is no stranger to fundraising for the Sanctuary, in the past five years she has raised over £13,000 for us with some awe-inspiring challenges that have ranged from – losing a stone in weight in a month,  abseiling down the Spinnaker Tower with a group of fundraisers, running 100 miles in a month and giving up her car for 10% of the year, to reduce her CO2 emissions.

The Sanctuary recorded this momentous occasion live on Facebook on the day, which can be viewed on our Facebook Page, this showed the actual hair shave live as it happened.

Sarah was extremely nervous before the event, but said it was something that she just had to do for Softi and Toph, and having raised over £6,000 so far, we are immensely grateful for everything she has done, and the money she has raised!

Lawrence Bates, COO of the Wildheart Sanctuary had this to say…

Sarah is a huge supporter of the Sanctuary who over the years has raised a tremendous amount of money to care for and rehabilitate the animals from their previous traumas. The challenges have always been extreme, but this one definitely stands out from the crowd!

Well done Sarah – what an amazing and inspirational feat!
