A Life Less Ordinary - An Evening With The Corneys
Posted on February 28, 2022
Join us for a very special charity fundraising night in The Wildheart Café on Saturday 19 March and an exclusive Q&A interview with Judith and Charlotte Corney.
The evening will be hosted by journalist and broadcaster Tom Stroud who will be talking to the Corneys about their love of wildlife and passion for conservation. The family connections to the Isle of Wight date back to 1976 when they bought the Isle of Zoo, which had fallen into disrepair and began creating one of the Isle of Wight’s most popular and iconic attractions.
In doing so they restored the historic Sandown Fort and nursed the animals back to health. Today the old “zoo” has been transformed in to a sanctuary and charity that provides a forever home to animals that have been rescued from suffering and harm.
The Corney family are part of local folklore with tales of tiger cubs on the beach, milking King Cobras and leopards and leopards on the school run.
The Corneys have lived a life less ordinary while doing done so much for wildlife conservation both here on the island and around the world. It is a story of hope and redemption with an enduring love of animals and a passion to protect the planet we share with them.
It has been an incredible 45 years since the Corney family moved to the island – join us on the 19th of March to hear of this astonishing journey in their own words.
Tickets are £25 general admission and £20 for members and includes a glass of Prosecco or fruit juice on arrival plus canapes.
All money raised from the evening will go towards our new Primate Rescue Facility which will open in May 21.
Tickets are available here, be sure to book your place for this very special evening which will definitely sell out early.
