It’s official. Visitors to our recent party night hosted by Chris Packham enjoyed a thoroughly wild night, meeting lots of new friends, both furry and feathered!

Celebrating the recent formation of The Wildheart Trust, the party showcased everything that’s great about the zoo and it’s work with animals – from exotic big cats to mischievous meerkats.

On the perfect summer’s evening, partygoers were treated to a selection of talks and tours, gaining a fascinating insight into not only the resident animals but also how the zoo cares for them and works on projects at home and overseas to aid rescue, conservation and rehabilitation.

Chris Packham’s talk on small animals proved a major hit as did the chance to meet the recently arrived ex-circus tigers who were basking in the late sunshine and giving occasional chuffs of contentment while Trust founder Charlotte Corney made the all-important introductions.

A special flying exhibition from the Hawk Conservancy captivated onlookers in the zoo’s unique Sandown fort and some delicious food and drink on the lawn made sure this night was not just an occasion to remember but one which people tell us they want us to repeat.

Keep a look out here and follow us on facebook and twitter to make sure you don’t miss out on news of the next party night. They’re your chance to enjoy some special experiences while helping us continue our care and education activities.
