A carer accompanying a disabled visitor will be admitted free of charge, on request. Supporting documentation should be provided, for example a current DLA letter. The normal admission or membership fee applies to the disabled visitor.
The Sanctuary has one manual wheelchair available for free loan. We recommend booking one in advance, particularly during the peak season. Island Mobility offer wheelchair hire on the Island.
We do not own any mobility scooters. Local firm Wight Phoenix offer scooters for hire so you may wish to consider using them.
The number 8 Southern Vectis bus service stops right outside the sanctuary with the number 2 and 3 servicing Sandown town centre.
No part of the sanctuary relies on the use of steps.
There is a large disabled toilet in our cafe as well as the main toilet block.
For animal welfare reasons, we are unfortunately unable to admit assistance dogs. This is to protect the dog as well as our own animals who may become agitated or feel threatened. We do however allow dogs into our Wildheart Cafe. The cafe is accessible without requiring admittance to the sanctuary itself.
