All about Toph
Toph was one of 9 tigers rescued by a Poznan Zoo at the Belarussian border in October 2019. The tigers were enroute to Russia to destinations unknown, they were found in a terrible state, starving hungry, malnourished, terrified, and in tiny cages in the back of a horse box.
Toph was one of the 5 tigers taken to the AAP Sanctuary in Spain, she was very nervous in the beginning, and although she seem to gain her self-esteem and confidence more quickly than Softi, she was the last of the tigers to venture into the outdoors. This of course, was totally understandable as these conditions will have been much more familiar to her. It took a while, but her personality has slowly emerged especially when she was socialised with Softi which really seemed to help calm her and give her more confidence. She has also recently started to ‘chuff’ with people, chuffing is a form of tiger greeting, which sounds a bit like a puffy exhale, almost a whisper usually between the tigers, but it can also be a sign that she is becoming more trusting of the people around her. Her rescue journey is now finally coming to an end as she travels to The Wildheart Animal Sanctuary, where our team of expert animal carers will give her the devotion and expert care needed for her to finally forget the past, learn to trust humans once more and thrive in our sanctuary, where we will ensure Toph can learn to be a Tiger again.
The expert bespoke care plans we provide to our tigers cost around £1,000 a month and as a registered charity we rely on your help. Adoption packs are a fantastic way of supporting each of the animals, like Toph, in our care. Each pack raises vital funds to help us meet these costs which enable us to provide for our animals’ day-to-day healthcare and rehabilitation needs. Please help us to provide the forever home that these beautiful, majestic animals deserve.
