Our Project

As a part of our plan to Rewild the Wight we launched the Wildflowers for Schools project in 2020. This was designed to help local schools convert unused areas of their grounds to wildflower meadows – absolutely free!

We enrolled six schools on to the scheme. With both flower mixtures and support donated by DLF Seeds pupils got to plant out their very own meadow. We also delivered a lesson on habitat destruction and why it’s important to provide wildlife havens in and amongst our towns and villages.

As a part of our commitment to the project we converted 1500 square metres of our sanctuary site to wildflower meadows incorporating apiary, scrubland, flowers, willow walks and orchard trees.
