About the Project
The Wildheart Trust is proud to be a part of the White-tailed Eagle Project Steering Group here on the Isle of Wight.
The project is a partnership between the Roy Dennis Wildlife Foundation and Forestry England. They released six birds in 2019 and a further seven the following year. In 2021 the projects released another 12 birds to the Isle of Wight.
White-tailed Eagles were once widespread along the whole of the South Coast of England but persecution led to the eagles being wiped out, with the last known breeding place recorded was Culver Cliff on the Isle of Wight in 1780. We are proud to be part of this successful partnership that is reintroducing these wonderful birds to the Isle of Wight.
