Our Project

As a part of our plan to Rewild the Wight we launched the Wildflowers for Schools project in 2020. This was designed to help local schools convert unused areas of their grounds to wildflower meadows – absolutely free!

Wildheartanimalsanctuary enrolled six schools in the scheme. With both flower mixtures and support donated by DLF Seeds pupils got to plant out their very own meadow. We also delivered a lesson on habitat destruction and why it’s important to provide wildlife havens in and amongst our towns and villages.

As a part of our commitment to the project, we converted 1500 square meters of our sanctuary site to wildflower meadows incorporating apiary, scrubland, flowers, willow walks and orchard trees.
